Services Provided

The Operations Division provides fire suppression, EMS, rescue, and Hazardous Materials Response and public fire education services to the 14,550 citizens of Vernon and Wilbarger County in an area of 971 square miles. 21 career personnel are assigned to the Operations Division with three Captains, three Lieutenants, and 15 firefighters. The Department also has 12 Reserve (volunteer) firefighters that supplement the career firefighters.

Stations
The Fire/EMS Department currently operates out of two stations.

Central Fire Station
Central Fire Station manned by 21 firefighters on three shifts located at 4109 Wilbarger Street. The equipment housed at Central Fire Station includes:

  • Quint 1 
  • Rescue 1
  • Fast Attack 1
  • Booster 1
  • Nortex Regional Haz-Mat Trailer
  • Nortex Regional Cascade Trailer
  • Ambulance A-1
  • Ambulance A-2

Fire Station 2
Fire Station 2 is unmanned and is located at 1829 Marshall Street.  Equipment housed at Fire Station 2 includes:
  • Engine 4
  • Command Post
  • Ambulance A-3
